The Aeon T3 Rapid-Fire Artillery Installation, nicknamed the Salvation, is a tech 3 Aeon stationary artillery unit.
There are major differences between the Salvation and the more common Emissary Heavy Artillery installation. For one, it has nearly twice the range of the Emissary, which in itself has the greatest range of all the factions' respective Heavy Artillery structures. For another, the Salvation fires once every three seconds or so, making it a very expensive base defense to support (about -7500 Energy per shot!).
Finally, it is very expensive in both time and resources to build, consuming Mass and Energy at an alarming rate. In fact, the Salvation consumes more mass to construct than a Paragon, and is not far off from the Mavor's costs! Building a Paragon first, then building this unit can ease the burden on your economy.
On the upside, the projectile the Salvation fires bursts above the target, splitting into six smaller submunitions. Those submunitions split again into six of their own bomblets. What results is a hailstorm of light ordnance, with each little bomblet the rough equivalent of a mobile light artillery bomb (about 220 damage), spread across a wide area. And because of the high rate of fire, the Salvation rains down a near-constant bombardment, shredding whatever is caught underneath.
The Salvation can also be used against units that would not normally be vulnerable to artillery weapons. Submarines and the Aeon CZAR can be successfully attacked by manually targeting terrain/water adjacent to the unit.
The Salvation has a high range and incredible dps output that rivals if not exceeds the Mavor in destructive power. Since the Salvation, like all T3 structures, can only be built by a T3 engineer, it is for all intents and purposes the secret fifth Aeon experimental.
ALWAYS surround the Salvation in power generators and it will fire TWICE as fast even if they are T1 ones. There is no excuse not to.
Trivia[]
- The Salvation was changed to an experimental unit in Forged Alliance Forever.
