A battleship is the most powerful class of naval vessels. It has long-range, devastating artillery capable of destroying other surface units or bombarding land targets. All battleships have long range and powerful guns, and most have tactical missile defense and anti-air devices, although their anti-air capabilities are laughably weak. All battleships have very high build times and build costs.
Faction Differences Edit
All five battleships have devastating projectile-based primary weapons that can bombard land targets and destroy surface naval units. Aside from that, they have a variety of other weapon systems:
|UEF Summit Class||Gauss Cannon 3 x 3||None||None||Linked Railgun x 4||Phalanx Anti Missile x 2|
|Cybran Galaxy Class||Proton Cannon 2 x 3||Nanite Torpedo||None||Electron Autocannon x 2||Zapper Anti Missile x 2|
|Aeon Omen Class||Oblivion Cannon x 3||None||None||None||Will O Wisp Anti Missile|
|Seraphim Hauthuum||Heavy Quarnon Cannon x 3||None||None||Olaris AA Artillery Cannon x 2||Ele-athrun Tactical Missile Defense x 2|
|Aeon Tempest||Oblivion Cannon||Heavy Chrono Torpedo||Quasar Anti Torpedo||None||
These varied offensive and defensive capabilities dictate very different ways of using these units.
The Tempest can rule the water with its devastating array of weapons effective against naval units, and is the only battleship whose radar range matches its cannon range. Its torpedoes and its anti-torpedo weapon make it effective against subs as well, but it is outclassed by the Summit Class in a direct, surfaced fight.
The Galaxy Class is most capable of operating almost unescorted, but although it has anti-air, it does not have enough to fight off any kind of major air assault, and although it has torpedoes, they are outgunned even by a T1 attack sub (though the Galaxy's have better range). Its primary cannons are outranged by the Summit Class and Tempest, and despite the unit description and stats on the right side of this page, it only fires two cannons every four seconds, making its primary DPS equal the Summit Class's and Hauthuum's, however, at closer ranges, its torpedoes might give it an edge against other battleships.
The Summit Class's primary cannon salvo gives it the best initial shot damage of all the battleships, with range equal to the Tempest's, so it is able to destroy almost any other unit in only a few salvos. It has similar protection from air units as the Galaxy Class, but the Summit still needs significant escort, especially to protect it from submarines.
The Omen Class is the most vulnerable, with only a primary weapon (with the highest DPS of all T3 battleships, and the lowest range), a tactical missile defense weapon, and the fastest speed among battleships.
The Seraphim Hauthuum is the only battleship equipped with a strategic missile launcher, which is to make up for the faction's lack of a strategic missile sub. It also has the only area-effect flak (better against swarms) among the battleships, and has the highest rate of primary cannon fire (and lowest damage per projectile) as well.
