The UEF T2 Torpedo Bomber, nicknamed the Stork, is a UEF bomber and torpedo unit. It is very maneuverable and deadly to subs and ships, especially in swarms.
“A twin-tailed plane, the Stork carries a payload of Angler torpedoes that it uses to excellent effect against any naval unit.” —Stork Vanilla SupCom description
As with other faction Torpedo Bombers, the Stork is difficult to hit with anti-air turrets due to its agility, cross section, and speed. Like the other Torpedo Bombers, it will require air-to-air interception or an exceptionally large anti-air navy to defeat a large group of Storks. Also note that missile AA is extremely deadly to Storks, and should be avoided at all times.
The Stork has the slowest torpedo speed and torpedo range of any other faction's Torpedo Bombers, and is sometimes completely ineffective at hitting targets that are running in the same direction as the Stork at full speed. Micro-managing your Storks by commanding them to attack from head-on can counter this drawback.
The Stork, like the other factions' Torpedo Bombers, is very capable against high-health naval units, especially those with low maneuverability, and a small group of Storks can destroy a T2 or T3 naval force in short order. For the best results, combine your Stork bombers with interceptors or fighters and Broadsword gunships when possible to secure a quick victory with minimal losses.
Trivia[]
The UEF's Torpedo Bomber closely resembles the P-38 Lightning, a multi-purpose fighter used throughout World War II by the United States most notably in the Pacific.
