I won't edit the content of this article, because I can see you've put quite a lot of effort into it, but I'll give you a few suggestions.

  • Is the strategy only for fighting AIs? If not, a player would catch on quick. If so, then the distraction isn't necessary.
  • The tanks lack defence in the primary group, perhaps include some T2 mobile shields?
  • You ought to link some of the units mentioned to their relevent articles, you can do this using double square brackets.
  • The primary force could also do with some variety, that way it'll be more difficult to counter.

I made a couple of grammar/English edits to the article, I haven't changed anything significant though. Laexio 08:33, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

Alright man, thank you for editing it, i like it, and it is much more better and simpler then the one i typed. it's okay though, actually the similar tactic can also be used against human opponent but it will require more distraction, because once your opponent finds out what you are up to, they can counter it with ease. but the good thing about this tactic is it has no limit, you can do it all over again, and try it with different unit or element, your suggestion of including a T2 Shield generator is very precise and accurate, i agreed with it. oh yes, the real reason why i use Pillar is because i can use the full capacity of the transport, meaning i can deploy more fire power and able to hold until another load of pillar arrives.--UEF infidelist 01:01, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

You should put that about the pillars on the article. Laexio 11:35, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

Just some thoughts[]

This is a pretty dangerous strategy against a human player. Since you're fighting on their home ground, you need to assume they have everything they need and you need to bring anything that you might need. Having a force of T3 fighters hanging around to provide air cover is sensible, but if you've had time to build them, so too has the enemy, and you could very easily find your fighters dogfighting their fighters while T2/3 gunships rip your ground units apart. If they're Aeon it's especially dangerous as the gunships themselves are effective AA. Since you're in their territory, you'll be taking constant AA and PD fire in addition to any forces your opponent has around. You list T3 artillery as a support unit, but having 2 - 3 of these firing on a target by itself is much harder to prevent than fighting off a T2 tank spam. By moving to the shield, you are doing what your opponent wants. My favourite ways to break open shields are tactical missiles, especially if they're within range of cruisers, and T3 mobile artillery, which out-ranges essentially any defensive structure they can build. My general approach would be:

1. Set up a forward position with T2/3 units, T2 mobile shields and T2 mobile AA (don't go anywhere without mobile AA units, they're excellent value). This is your staging point.

  • Have a reserve force of T2/3 gunships or fighters and bombers.
  • Have radar coverage of their whole base.

2. Move in T2 mobile missile launchers and / or T3 mobile artillery once you have a strong force to protect them. 3. Move the force towards the enemy base in small steps until your artillery is barely in range.

  • If they send a counter-attack, set the reserve force to patrol directly over your main force. Now it's them who has to fight at a disadvantage, coming out of their base to engage your strong position instead of sitting behind defenses.

4. Each time your artillery runs out of targets, move forward an inch. Once shields are down, throw your whole force in once you've inflicted enough damage on their point defenses.

This is by no means perfect either - nothing ever goes to plan - but the core idea of it is to take your enemy's strength and make it a weakness by forcing him to come out of his base to counter you. Throwing units directly towards a heavily defended target is not the best approach to the problem. I don't mean to be overly critical - I think a great thing about supcom is the potential to bring in deeper strategy than any other RTS I've played. 121.45.197.178 13:27, December 17, 2009 (UTC)
